Asbury College Training Chinese Broadcasters for Beijing Olympics

We have been contracted by the International Olympic Committee’s broadcast division, Olympic Broadcast Services, to train Chinese university students to fill the paid entry level broadcast positions during the Beijing Olympics. Since September, Asbury has trained 1,600 Chinese students to fill these positions through week-long workshops that include lectures as well as actual experience working at sports events. We rented production trucks in Beijing for the training. We also trained an additional 70 students in Hong Kong. Asbury will also be sending at least 56 students, faculty and staff to work in paid positions in the broadcast as well.We did the same thing in Greece and Italy and have also been contracted for Vancouver. This year I was also able to present television production workshops to Chinese professional television personnel who will be working at the Games in a series of workshops. Around 100 professionals attended this training. This is my ninth Olympic broadcast to be involved in.While I never would have thought we would be doing this stuff, it has been fun!
