Perino, the daughter of John and Sandy Perino of Alexandria, was recently named the sportscaster of the year for the state of Kentucky by the National Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association.

Emmys Go Back to Real Time
It has been a season of reversals for the Primetime Emmy Awards. First, the ceremony was shifted from Sept. 20, only to be returned to that date two weeks later. Now, in an even bigger about-face, the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has scrapped a plan to time-shift eight categories on this year's broadcast after a firestorm of criticism from the creative community. As a result, all 28 categories slated for the CBS broadcast will be awarded live.

Ville Voice Comments on the 2009 Metro Journalism Awards
Some of our favorite media types took home trophies at the 2009 Metro Journalism Awards presentation last night. We didn’t enter, because . . .
A - We Didn’t Want to Pay the Entry Fee
B - Our trophy shelf is full and there is no wall space.
C - If we won something, we would have felt obligated to attend the Awards ceremony.

Ohio AP Broadcasters induct new Hall of Fame class
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Veteran Columbus reporter Carol Luper of WSYX-TV and Willard Parr, a broadcaster still on radio in southern Ohio after more than 50 years, have been inducted into the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
