Best DTV Converter Boxes

Many of us are shopping for DTV converter boxes right now ....which you'll need to watch over the air television next year.

And many viewers are asking us which are best....and if you should pay more for a special "dual band" box.

Consumer Reports magazine recently tested 14 digital boxes. The magazine says paying more does not get you a better converter box.

It's two top rated models:

The Tivax, $50, and the Microgem, $65 had the best pictures and features, Consumer Reports says.

As for more expensive "dual band" boxes...you need them only if you plan to watch "Low Power," community TV stations that will continue broadcasting in analog after next February.

If your viewing is primarily WCPO (ABC), along with the local NBC, CBS, PBS, and FOX affiliates...there is no need to pay more for a dual band box.
