Ohio University says it will receive a $7.5 million donation from alumnus Steven Schoonover and his wife, Barbara.
The university in Athens in southeast Ohio says the gift is the largest ever to the university from a living alumnus. It will go toward a planned new building for the Scripps College of Communication, which will house the college's five schools and the WOUB Center for Public Media.
Schoonover graduated from Ohio University in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in organizational communication. The Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.-resident is the founder and former CEO of CellXion, which services the wireless telecommunications industry.
